I am new comer too. I think it doesn't matter whether you have income or not.
my insurance company is state farm now.

amily, you should call many car insurance companies and compare their price. There are some broker doing this work too. You can call them. However, I do not have any contact information. So you probably need to find out online.
The cost of car insurance depends on many factors, e.g. your driving expeirence, your car model and year, etc.

For me, I need to drive to US. And state farm is a US company and their price is acceptable for me. It's actually cheaper than most of other companies for my case. When you call different agent in state farm, they might give you different price sometimes. If you dont understand some of the term, just ask them to explain until you understand.

The follwoing are the insurance lists my friend told me. I guess he has RBS insruance now.

Statefarm, CAA, TD-Insurance, ING-Insurance, President'S Choice Financial, RBC Insurance,
GM Canada(Motor Insurance), BelairDirect(1-888-280-9111), Aviva, Johnson Inc.

Agree. You should call for more Insurance Company before purchasing your insurance. It was because different Insurance Company has their own prefer group of customers.

The following are the rating factors for your insurance:
1. Age, gender, and martial status
2. Driving Experience
3. Driving record
4. Other regular driver
5. Territory and distance annually
6. Vehicle usage
7. Vehicle description
8. Coverage
