＂some white-collar job cuts in Detroit area＂以前没想到，也不知道．谢谢提醒！

in fact, yes, there are some white-collar job cuts. Just as I mentioned the whole picture is not good.
My last email gave some bright points. now give you some other sides of job market in Detreoit. Not try to scare you

You are very nice to search and post the information for us. I have printed it out. The job description is in accorndace with LG's direction, almost the same kind of work he is doing here in China for a foreign manufacture.

LG is a smart sunshine boy in my eyes. But he is  not work hard enough sometimes, that's why I doubt if we are good enough. Last year after 3 trips to USA, he raised the idea to apply CA immigration, and I agreed.

作为独生子女，并且已经有了下一代，we are planning to get 3 or more years independent living experience in CA to know & fullfill our life. Will be bitter-sweet?  Anyway, fluent English is the first key to a good start.

I am receiving some training about vehicle in Windsor now. as I got from my Canadia colleague , it's hard , much , very ...to find one 'white collar' job, ...., pls. carefully .....very much ....do more investigation for the country situation before you immigrant.
   Windsor , it's a totally different culture with shanghai  ( I am from shanghai too).   think it twice , pls.
at least , I think the" moon(job moon)" in Windsor for sure is not shine than in shanghai. ...very much...

another Detroit is not a good location for " white collar" job position.

and if you can save more than 10K in shanghai per month , you would have a better too much living level than Windsor.

1，生活费用不是大问题。要活下来不难，无非是生活层次问题。中国人不会在这儿饿死冻死，营养不良都难。(可能会闷死) 所以不要太专注于算计存钱来这花。多花心思了解怎么在加拿大干上一份工作(不过没来估计也是白费劲)。有了工作一切好说。没有工作带再多的钱也过得很窝囊。

2，你LG正是得益于世界工厂的转移。你那里汽车相关行业多兴旺就意味着这里的同行以同样的速度衰落。好好珍惜你们现在的生活。到这里，你多半没机会再从事同样的工作，连在汽车工厂当劳工都没资格。理由简单的说:如果你是洋人老板，你会冒险雇佣一个才从中国来的人当项目负责人。本土资深人士一大把等着呢?

3，温莎吧更适合面向当地生活的华人包括学生。你可以在此了解很多具体生活信息。但关于移民这样的宏观问题，你在51等其它加拿大华人网站能得到更多的知识。你的移民计划首先要解决为什么一定要移民，而不是只冲着温莎来的。

4，如果把钱计划好了(吃的用的买车买房)，过渡时间安排好了(一年两年)，英语恶补了一下。就觉得准备好移民了。那是危险的想法! 我认为
决心和毅力才是最重要的。就算没钱，不会英语，只要有生存下去的勇气，不一定要有计划，这样的人明天就可以来这里开始生活。
加拿大是给有这样心态的“闯关东”的中国人准备的！

比较赞同这位雄的想法，当然也不排除许多的中国人同样也是过的不错的。。许多的兄弟们给我作了榜样。
但是，前面有位在上海还能吃一元钱五个馒头的兄弟，我倒是感觉他如果来的话，可能会比较有吃苦耐劳的基础。
也真是够狠，上海也能吃到这馒头，你在那里住？？以后我也搬那边去住去了。。。。^_^

移民 or not  is case by case.
Hard to say indivially by others.
To me it's best choice I ever had.
