I live in windosr and work in downtown detroit.
Be sure you have your maple card and passport with you all the time.
Sometimes they ask for vehicle registration. you may wanna keep a copy in your car.
Attach the H1B (U.S. working permit) and Form I-94 stub with your passport for their convenience.
It takes me 15 mins to work if no heavy traffic and 30 mins if there is.
The Custom concerns:
Where you live, where you're going, any fruits, plants, or meats you bring in, any taxable purchase (cigarette,alcohol,goods...)
Try your best to avoid carrying non-necessaries through.
There won't be too much trouble unless you have problem with your status or VISA (like passport expires in 6 months, visa out of date,etc...)
